PCA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

SHOWMAN TEAM REPORT

On Monday 25th, 26th and 27th September, riders from Victoria, NSW and Qld, competed at the hub event of the 2023 Petstock PCA Nationals, held at the Bacchus Marsh Pony Club grounds.  Each Nationals, the host state can select a discipline to showcase.  This year, WA selected the Showman.

There was the option of the Three Phase Showman; Dressage, In Hand and Ridden Workout or the Four Phase Showman; Dressage, In Hand, Ridden Workout and Showjumping.

The three-phase event was offered to a sub-junior team and junior/senior team.The four phase even was offered to a sub-junior 60cm team, junior/senior 80cm team and a junior/senior 90cm team.

Four riders, 20 in total, were selected for each of the teams to represent TeamVic at the 2023 Nationals.  Those riders were;

Day one of the event saw all Showman riders ride their dressage tests.  As this event was conducted in a hub/virtual format, riders required this phase to be videoed, so that it could be judged later by judges allocated by WA.  All riders performed to their best ability and did TeamVic proud.

Day two saw all Showman riders perform their in hand and ridden workout.  These events were also videoed for judging later by WA Judges.  Riders took great pride in presenting their horses to a high standard and handled the events within in their stride.  At the completion of these workouts, saw the final event for the three phase riders.

Final day, day three, saw the remainder of the Showman riders from the four phase sections, take on their final event the showjumping.  The showjumping course gave riders several challenges and they all rose to the occasion and performed exceptionally well.  And just like that, the event was over.

Now the wait to find out TeamVic’s final results…..

Results were recently announced and TeamVic performed well in the Showman event and continued to fly the Victorian flag high!.
