Kate Wilson ... Farewell & Thank You!
After 11 years of tirelessly working for Pony Club Victoria, Kate Wilson has resigned her position as State Coaching Director.
Already working in the field as a Deputy Chief Instructor and PCV State Assessor for the PCA NCAS Coach program, Kate became Pony Club Victoria’s State Coaching Director in 2009. In this role she has worked tirelessly to improve the standard of coaching in Pony Club within Victoria and across Australia.
Kate over the past 11 years has helped shape the coaching direction of Pony Club Victoria but has also been a significant voice on the National Coaching Committee during this time. She has worked hard to promote Victoria’s position and took on many national coaching development initiatives along the way. In recent years, Kate has worked closely with PCA to update the PCA NCAS coaching resources to align them with the new PCA Syllabus of Instruction. Kate’s contribution to this process has been significant, promoting the ideals and practicalities that existed within the field and to implement a positive change.
One of Kate’s significant achievements during her as State Coaching Director was developing a great team of Chief Instructors who together have created a solid strategic direction for our coaching program. The Chief Instructors Panel under Kate’s guidance have been systematically managing challenges, taking opportunities and refining the Pony Club coaching program to ensure Pony Club remain the leader in horse education and rider development.
One of Kate’s major roles within Pony Club Victoria was to increase the number of PCA NCAS qualified coaches with our clubs. Knowledge of the PCA NCAS Coach Accreditation program has significantly increased during Kate’s time with the flow on effect of increasing the number of qualified coaches in our clubs across the state. Kate was committed to ensuring as many coaches as possible were given an opportunity to obtain their accreditation and went well beyond the call of duty to ensure this happened. It was not unusual to see Kate spending her own time attending coaching seminars or training days making sure our coaches got the most out of our programs.
Always an enthusiastic can-do team member, Kate was ready to help in all facets of the PCV office, from organising ribbons for state competition, packing showbags, club development, dealing with membership queries and assisting our small team to service our clubs and members. Nothing was too much to ask. She will be missed in our office for her knowledge, practical solution-focused manner and willingness to help where she could.
On behalf of all of Pony Club Victoria members we wish Kate all the best in her future endeavours, we hope to still see her around the grounds and know she will remain active in the development of our young coaches.
