Horseland Pony Club Tetrathlon State Championship - Event Wrap & Results

The 2020 State Tetrathlon Championships will be well remembered not only as the only State Championship in a Pony Club discipline to be held this year due to the COVID pandemic but also as the largest Tetrathlon ever held in the state.

Over eighty entries were received from clubs as far away as Hamilton in the west to Bairnsdale in the east, Mildura in the north west and Howlong in the north east as well as many clubs in between. It was stunning to see them arrive on Saturday afternoon and hear the comments from regular Tetrathletes "who are all these people - where have they come from" What a wonderful sight and to see how the discipline has grown over the last twelve months. Congratulations to all the parents on making such a great effort to bring your pony clubbers for the weekend.

The competition was strong. This was the first event since February but this did not deter the enthusiasm and competitive nature of the participants. Many competitors were surprised by recording PB's in the swim despite not having been in the pool for many months.

The event also served as the first part of the state team selection process for the 2021 National Pony Club Championships being held in Benalla in September. Teams will consist of four boys and four girls for each of the three age group, Sub Junior, Junior and Senior so competition will be fierce especially with the Sub Junior and Junior girls were there fifteen entries in each age group.

Special thanks need to go to the large group of willing volunteers who assisted on the weekend making the event the success it was and fun for all.

Age group winners were:

Sub Juniors:

  • Boys:   Jack McKerron - Colac Pony Club
  • Girls:    Matilda Mason - Hamilton Pony Club

  • Boys:   Lachlan Nicholls - Seville Pony CLub
  • Girls:    Zoe Adddinsal - Dunkeld Pony Club

  • Boys:   Cohen Wade - Stratford Pony Club
  • Girls:    Priyanka Joshi - Bairnsdale Pony Club

To all those who missed out on the fun of a Tetrathlon event as well as everyone who has had a go keep your eyes on the PCV website and enter the up and coming events. The more the merrier.

Looking forward to continuing to see this relatively new Tetrathlon discipline grow and to welcoming many of you to future events.
