WHAT YOU ARE AIMING TO ACHIEVE
Screen and train people in your Club to reduce the risk of child abuse by:
- Using only the most suitable people (whether in a paid or voluntary capacity) to work with children
- Screen volunteers and ensure you know you are selecting the best people to work with children
- Create clear job descriptions and duty statements
- Understand the nature and signs of child abuse
- Provde high quality supervision and professional development
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

Register the following on the MyPonyClub database:

- Club Supporters

Ensure the following have a WWCC and nominate PONY CLUB VICTORIA and your CLUB as organisations they volunteer or work with:
- Coaches
- Officials
- Club Supporters
- Get all committee members, coaches and officials undertake the Play by the Rules free Child Protection training
- Get your committee members, coaches and officials to undertake the Play by the Rules free Let Kids be Kids mini course
- Create position descriptions for all roles at your Club, including coaches, identify required skills and attributes
- Make these courses apart of your yearly induction and ask for certificates of completion
THINGS TO THINK ABOUT
- Include training such as Child Protection, Complaints Handling or coach qualifications. Formalise your position so those holding them understand the scope of their role and a need to act professionally.
- Ensure you encourage your committee members, volunteers, coaches and officials to attend training opportunities as part of your approach to professional development.
- Ensure the coaches and officials you use have completed appropriate training where you know child safe will be addressed. Pony Club Training Days, NCAS Coach Training, Zone Meetings
- Promote a “policy of the month” via your newsletters, social media and communication channels
- View and/or discuss child safe scenarios at committee meetings
- Utilise registration, training and presentation days to present to members about the Standards and what you are doing
